Our client asked us to install digital signage on a product pop-up shelf with some additional user interaction levels for the displayed products too.

We figured that the best way to achieve this would to combine the ‘lift and learn’ system with an interactive UI. Generally, a lift and learn digital signage would comprise a simple video or image displayed when a product is lifted. We developed an extra level by loading an interactive application about the product each time the lift took place.

Our team did all this using a simple Raspberry Pi microcomputer to ensure the overall solution is cost-effective and compact in size.

We have implemented the solution at Watson’s pharmacy in Dubai Festival City and Mall of the Emirates. We’ll be installing similar units in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in the next phase.

We created a 4-player Cycling Race with a live score Leader-board for Panadol. This was an outrageously exciting activation in Dubai Mall where hundreds participated every day. The top player of the day was given a prize. We used microcontrollers with sensors on wheels to detect the speed and translate it to a nice graphical interface on a jumbotron LED.
