PearlQuest Interactive’s Installation at the DEWA stand at WETEX Dubai, 2017

PearlQuest Interactive's Installation at the DEWA stand at WETEX Dubai, 2017

We created a multi touch application and integrated it into our 55″ touch screen kiosk, along with a 3 x 2 video wall made up of seamless screens. We created a nicely designed application based on DEWA’s branding guidelines, and basically made it work like a large tablet which controls the content going on the video wall.

The multitouch application was well received and a lot of visitors coming to the WETEX exhibition at the Dubai World Trade Centre, had a very good overview on DEWA’s activities related to creating a positive impact on climate change.

3 ways to utilize Interactive Media for Business

Media is essentially the collective means of communication and information disbursement that we use for a variety of purposes. The types of media that we are most familiar with are things like television, radio, the internet and print. These can be effective tools for getting a message to a particular audience or obtaining the information that we may need about a give topic.

3 ways to utilize Interactive Media for Business5

When we talk about interactive media, we mean a type of media that can engage the consumer with a back and forth. Rather than a one-way flow of information like a television program or a radio broadcast, interactive media responds to input from the individual that is using it. This could include everything from a website to a videogame or an interactive kiosk at a shopping center. These forms of media can be particularly advantageous to a business because it not only sends the message that the business is trying to share, but it also engages the consumer and provides them with the information that is most relevant to their needs.

3 ways to utilize Interactive Media for Business5

1. Websites

A website is a very common piece of interactive media and in many ways, a website can actually be described as interactive multimedia. This is because a website can include different types of media into the user experience and allow them to interact with all of them. By navigating a website and selecting different options for the content that interests them, the consumer is interacting with the media on the website. This can obviously be a very powerful tool when it comes to providing information to the consumer in a way that is engaging and convenient.

2. Apps for tablets and smartphones

A business that chooses to build a consumer app is also taking advantage of another form of interactive media. An app can be a very effective marketing tool because most consumers take their mobile devices everywhere they go. With your app installed on their mobile device, the consumer is in effect, taking a connection to your business along with them for the experience of their everyday life. These apps can include information about products and services, information about the latest sales and specials and it can even include special features that will motivate the consumer to visit your location.

3. The interactive kiosk

An interactive kiosk can offer a business a lot of great benefits. It can work as a directory to help consumers search for and learn about products, it can be used as a digital wayfinding device, it can be employed as a part of a customer outreach campaign and most of all, it can be used to personalize the consumer experience. One of the great things about the interactive kiosk is that it can be used to tie all of your media efforts together. The business can build apps that will interact with the kiosk and they can hold promotions on social media or at the website that bring the consumer back around to the kiosk.

Having a complete media presence is essential in the world of marketing and in today’s marketing world that means the use of interactive media. While the traditional forms of media are important, the interactive media offers so much more in regard to consumer engagement and the ability to deliver a dynamic and up to date message.

Digital Signage: An Important Link in a Vast Marketing Process

In our past posts, we have consistently highlighted how digital signage plays a vital role in the entire marketing process. However, it is not the only thing that is vital. A successful marketing strategy is an intelligent combination of the different media that can be used to engage potential customers. This media includes other digital media such as mobile marketing and social media marketing.

With people on the go at all times, it is important to develop a marketing strategy that combines various media into one to get customer attention. If a digital sign communicates a message, it should ideally have an association with your social media marketing message. This is definitely likely to make your message more memorable and effective.

How Digital Signage Fits into the Marketing Chain

Digital signage is an effective tool that allows your customers to interact with you, and allows you to track this information so that you may continually enhance your strategy. Digital signage analytics can give you measurable information about the general demographic of the group that interacts with you. It can also analyse their behaviour. While this may not always be one-hundred per cent accurate, it is fairly informative and can at least provide direction as to how to improve the marketing process.

The effectiveness of digital signage also lies in the fact that people now like to see more than read. They are more interested in attractive visual displays of products. The more attractive it is, the more someone will interact with the sign, and the more engaging it is, the easier it will be to convert this mere user into a customer.

While mobile marketing is also equally effective, measuring analytics poses a bit of a challenge as the mobile audience is continuously on the move. Also, with the different measures that can be taken to protect individual privacy and restrict the information they see, one can only go so far as to collect anonymous data that may or may not be helpful when improvising on the marketing vision and goals.

What’s more, the integration of social media with digital signage is still in its nascent stage. Less than 5% businesses have been able to successfully integrate this medium into their marketing strategy, which means there is a lot of scope in this area.

So how do you Integrate Digital Signage into Your Marketing Strategy?

To create a seamless experience between all your marketing media, a clear vision of the ultimate goal is imperative. This will ease the process of integration and is likely to generate the results you are looking for. For instance, do you want to merely make a viewer aware of your business, or do you want to convert them into a customer as soon as they see your digital signage display? Do you want to create some kind of interaction and offer something special just for interacting with your display, or are you content with merely directing them toward your business and taking it from there?

By implementing a marketing strategy that develops as your customer engages with the digital signage display, and by updating the content regularly, you could have yourself a winner.

Your vision of your goal is what will guide your entire marketing strategy. Remember, digital signage on its own can only go so far. With a predefined, well-thought-out plan, it can take your business places. Also remember not to keep this as the centre of your marketing plan. As mentioned earlier, the integration of different types of media is still in a nascent stage, so it is best to spread the plan evenly across different media.

We offer customized solutions tailored to your marketing plans, and offer you unparalleled services to execute your digital signage and marketing plans. Don’t hesitate to get in touch. Installation of 55″ Multi-touch screen at Pingoo’s English, Seef Mall, Bahrain

Felt the heat of the Manama city and warmth of the Bahraini people, as PearlQuest successfully commissioned a 55″ multi-touch screen at Pingoo’s English, a kids learning center in Bahrain’s Seef Mall. The screen was loaded with Snowflake ABC, a children’s suite, well designed and amazingly useful for children.

Here is the inauguration video of Pingoo’s english:

The touchscreen that you see in the video is done by us. It is a 10-touch 55″ surface wave touch screen with a high-performance industrial grade PC supporting it. The PC has a 2GB Nvidia graphics card, making it work smooth as a stallion.

We just realized how cool is it for kids centers to have massive touchscreens, as you’d agree – the best users of iPads are – kids! Kids these days tend to learn interaction with these devices much faster than adults. When interfaces are made using technologies like multi-touch screens, learning becomes more intuitive and fun.

Dubai Set to Become a Smart City

On March 5, 2014, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the launch of a project to make Dubai a Smart City in the next three years. This endeavour will ensure that 1000 government services under transport, communication, infrastructure, electricity, economic services and urban planning are made smart by the year 2017.

With the smartphone playing the most important role in this effort and being called the key pivot, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stated,

“Our ambition is that this project touches the life of everyone in our country, or every mother in her house, or every employee in his work, or every investor in his project, or every child in his school, and doctor in his clinic. Our goal is to bring about happiness to all. May Allah help us in achieving this end.”

What This Means for Businesses All Over Dubai

To state it simply, the smartphone is what they call the key pivot in this initiative. Slowly, this one object that is owned by a majority of the population will alter the lifestyle of this city, making it much more convenient for residents to perform a variety of daily, mundane tasks like paying bills and travelling by public transport. It will play an important role in dealing with emergency situations, beyond the basic call-making ability. In a city that has envisioned a simpler future that relies majorly on smartphone technology, how are businesses going to cope with this continuously evolving lifestyle?

Dubai is ensuring that it makes its residents as comfortable as possible, that they live a lifestyle that they find nowhere else in the world. For a people that is so reliant on a simple technology that is leading to an uncomplicated lifestyle where to get even daily tasks done is cakewalk, where is the smart technology for businesses to ensure that their customers can maintain that level of comfort and luxury when shopping with them or dealing with them?

It is time for every business venture—product-oriented or service-oriented—in the city to step up and embrace this technology to make the shopping experience a memorable one for the consumer. Whether it is the virtual tour of a restaurant, an augmented reality app for a furniture store, or interactive technology using digital signage at a clothes store, these are components of a lifestyle that is slowly being introduced in the city of Dubai, and eventually the UAE.

Such technology that enables easy living can be integrated with any kind of business/service. For instance, augmented reality—a technology that can replicate real life situations can be used to provide contextual information when used in combination with an app on a smartphone that is facing a particular direction. This reduces real estate requirements as well as gives consumers a chance to experience life-like situations in an environment they are comfortable with. Retail store owners can introduce interactive digital signage that uses QR codes to allow a customer to make purchases with his smartphone.

This one device that most people now own can be used for the benefit of ANY kind of business, and there is no reason an ice cream vendor or a car parts manufacturer should be left behind.

Precious Foods Touchscreen Hardware & Software Interface

Successfully installed two superb multi-touch screens at Precious Foods & Bioorganic Cafe at TECOM, Dubai. The store is fully operational now, so are the screens installed by us. Precious Foods is an organic hypermarket, featuring an array of healthy foods and products. The project was done in collaboration with Adventrix, for whom we work as a Digital Media partner.

The app features a multi-touch interface, with the main menu showing all categories of products available in the store. Once a category is tapped, it shows a sub-menu of all products and recipes related to that category. The customer can choose a product to get more information on it, its features, benefits. They can see a recipe and even email it to themselves or friends.

Digital Media Boom Expected to Grow in 2014

Every year, analysts forecast the trends that will change the way entrepreneurs, start-ups, as well as well-established brands drive business. While the Internet has been a huge contributor to this change, 2014 is believed to be the year it will legitimately flourish and alter how we conduct business, make purchases, and transform our overall lifestyle.

2013 saw several ways in which the internet affected entrepreneurial mindset and consumer mentality. In keeping with these radical changes, 2014 is expected to be the year where this trend will almost be set in stone and will make business more efficient and productive. No chances can be taken; to keep up with the competition, the Internet must be embraced in all its glory, and this is particularly true for small businesses and start-ups. No chances can be taken; to keep up with the competition, the Internet must be embraced in all its glory, and this is particularly true for small businesses and start-ups. What were the trends in 2013 that make 2014 the year of the Internet?

Mobile Traffic to Websites Increased Tremendously
The number of smartphone users increased, which altered the functionality of the Internet for them. Surfing, purchasing, transacting, all shifted to mobile devices and changed the way people use the internet; which meant that the next big thing would be changing website functionality to appeal to the mobile user. So …

Websites became Responsive
One website that catered to the desktop user, the laptop user, the tablet user, and the smartphone user was the norm in the business. 2013 was called the year of responsive design by Mashable.

The App Market Flourished
‘There’s an app for that.’ Apple’s leading catchphrase for its iPhone 3G model could not be truer for 2013, and this trend is only expected to reach greater heights in 2014. Apps will not remain restricted to the general consumer. Even businesses are developing apps for internal use to enhance employer-employee communication, and to drastically improve employee efficiency.

Internet Ads Were Massive Revenue DriversWe have all seen ads as a part of every website we visit, but in 2013, ads seeped through social media platforms to ensure that even in our spare time, we made purchasing decisions or ignored those ads completely. One of the biggest trendsetters was Facebook, followed by its purchase of Instagram which it soon commercialized by introducing ads on the image-sharing platform.'

Content Became More Original, Less Spammy
With Google’s Panda and Penguin updates and very regular tweaks in its algorithms, the focus shifted from mediocre content to high-quality content for a rich user experience. This is not limited to the written word. Videos, images, infographics; all of these boomed in 2013 and 2014 is the year more methods of content sharing—augmented reality for example—will be explored to enrich how a user views it.

The Sharks Acquired the Little FishYahoo purchased Tumblr, Facebook acquired Instagram, and more recently, Facebook has also acquired Whatsapp, a leading ad-free chat messenger that connects people all over the world. Internet giants are taking over the Internet and altering our communication patterns, our ability to absorb information, and slowly, even the way in which we function in our daily lives.

All these trends, as big as they are, are only going to get bigger in the upcoming years. And this is big for businesses world over, regardless of whether you are a startup or a flourishing one. While an online presence is mandatory (though research reveals that still only 40% of business owners have a website), to truly one-up the competition, constant evolution and a keen eye on changing Internet trends is crucial.

To give your business in the UAE the online presence it needs, get in touch with us at PearlQuest. Interactive Floor system at Pullman Hotel, Deira City Center, Dubai

We installed an Interactive Floor system at Pullman Hotel, Deira City Center in Dubai. The interaction effect was customized as a combination of two effects. The water effect – ripples forming as people move over the projection and floating Pullman symbols that also react to footsteps.

The installation was quite complicated, as there were no ways to drill or install trusses at site. A temporary small truss was held with counterweights to make sure the projection remains steady.
